Thoughtful brands start with clear foundations.

I’m Lorne, a brand strategist and designer based in Fife, working with start-ups and growing small businesses who want to build with intention.

Let's start with a conversation. Everything else builds from there.

Most businesses I talk to aren't short of ideas. The challenge is usually that things have moved quickly, shifted direction or were built without quite enough underneath them to begin with.

When something starts to feel off, it's tempting to reach for something visible. A new logo, a fresh website or a new direction. But if the thinking isn't there first, those decisions tend not to stick.

So I start by slowing things down a little. Getting clear on where you are, what's actually changed, and what needs attention before anything gets designed or decided. That clarity becomes the thread that runs through everything else, from how you're positioned to how your brand shows up day to day.

Why strategy first

It's easy to jump straight to how things look. But brand decisions made without clear thinking underneath tend to unravel. Strategy is simply about getting clear on what matters before anything gets designed.

A one-woman studio

You'll work directly with me from start to finish. No handovers, no account managers in the middle. Just focused, considered work shaped around your business and where you're trying to get to.

Clear direction

When you know your positioning, your audience and your priorities, decisions get a lot easier. You stop second-guessing every move and start building from something solid, with a clear sense of where things are heading.

Based in Fife

I'm based in Fife and work with clients across Scotland and beyond. Whether we meet in person or online, it makes no difference to how we work or what we produce together.

Experience and background

I started out in a small agency and have worked the full circle since, agency, in-house and freelance. That variety gives me a perspective on brand that I don't think you get from staying in one lane.

I set up on my own because it works for my life, I'm a working mum and being self-employed means I can be there for my kids and still do work I'm genuinely proud of. And that work always starts the same way, getting properly stuck into a client's business before anything gets designed.

Who I work best with

I tend to work best with founders and small teams who want to build things properly. Often they're at a turning point, launching something new, growing faster than expected, or recognising that their brand hasn't quite kept pace with their business. They're not looking for quick fixes, they're looking for clarity - a clearer position and  stronger foundation. Work that feels aligned and built to last, rather than constantly needing to be rethought.

If this feels like
the right fit...
