Brand strategy, identity and activation.

I work with growing small businesses to build clear brand strategy and identity foundations. From defining your positioning and audience to designing a considered logo and visual system, everything is shaped around what your business actually needs, not just how it looks.

Not every business needs the same level of support. Some start with brand strategy. Others are ready to evolve their identity or bring more structure to how their brand shows up. The starting point is always the same, understanding where you are, what’s changed and what will create the most meaningful progress next.

Brand strategy

Strategy isn't just for big businesses. It's for any business that wants to grow with direction rather than guesswork.

When you're clear on what you stand for, who you're for and how you're positioned, everything gets easier. Design becomes more straightforward, marketing becomes more focused and you stop making decisions that need to be unpicked later.

Brand strategy is where we step back and work that out together. We get clear on your positioning, your audience and your priorities, so that everything that follows is built on something solid.

After working together on strategy, you'll have:

A clear positioning and point of difference

A stronger understanding of your audience

Messaging shaped around your postioning

More confidence in decision-making

Clearer language around what you do

A brand foundation built to grow with you

Brand identity

Brand identity is where strategy becomes visible.

Once the direction is clear, we translate it into a visual and verbal identity that reflects who you are and how you want to be understood. More than just a logo, it's a cohesive system that feels considered, recognisable and easy to use day to day.

When identity is shaped by strategy it doesn't feel trend-led or decorative. It feels intentional. And it works harder for your business because of it.

After working together on identity, you'll have:

Clear and considered visual direction

Logo and identity built around your position

Typography & colour chosen with purpose

Clear and consistent tone of voice

Practical guidance for everyday use

An identity designed to grow with you

Brand activation

This is where your brand stops living in a document and starts showing up in the real world.

Once strategy and identity are in place, we focus on bringing everything together across the places that matter most for your business. That might be your website, your social media, print materials or campaign assets. Often it's a mix of all of those.

Every project looks a little different, but the goal is always the same. A brand that shows up consistently and confidently, wherever your clients find you.

After working together on activation, you'll have:

A website that reflects your brand

Aligned social and marketing materials

On brand print and campaign assets

Support applying your brand

Structure around brand consistency

Ongoing guidance so nothing drifts

Frequently asked questions

What is brand strategy?

Brand strategy defines your positioning, audience, messaging and direction. It creates clarity before design begins, so decisions about identity, content and marketing are grounded in something solid rather than guesswork.

Do I need brand strategy before a logo?

Yes. A logo should reflect your positioning and personality, not just look appealing. Starting with strategy ensures your logo and identity system are built around clear foundations and designed to support long-term growth.

What is included in brand identity design?

Brand identity includes your logo system, typography, colour palette and visual direction. It also covers tone of voice and practical brand guidance so your business shows up consistently across website, social and print.

Do you offer logo design on its own?

I focus on logo design as part of a wider identity process. While some projects are lighter in scope, the work always begins with clarity around positioning and direction so the result is purposeful rather than purely visual.

I just need a brochure designed. Can you help?

Yes. I can design brochures and other print materials as standalone projects. Where useful, I may suggest a short clarity session first, but this isn’t always necessary if your brand foundations are already in place.

Do you work with businesses outside Scotland?

Yes. I’m based in Scotland and work with growing small businesses across the UK. Most projects are delivered remotely, with workshops and conversations structured around what suits your business best.
