The benefits of outsourcing

It’s the start of a new year and I think we can all agree we are pretty happy to be leaving 2021 behind!

You promise yourself that 2022 is going to be the year you focus on growing your business. You have your plan, you’ve got lists written and you are ready to go.

But before you know it, you’re quickly back to doing things the way you’ve always done them and getting the same results. You are trying to take on too much instead of focusing on what you are good at.

Outsourcing is a great way to help your business grow without having to take on the expense of more staff. In fact, some of the largest companies in the world outsource some of the work they do.

I’m very quick to admit that I am more than happy to outsource my tax return. If I spent the time and sat down to really understand it, I could probably muddle through myself, but I know my time is better spent elsewhere.

The same thing often happens with design. Free tools like Canva and Pixlr have enabled anyone to try their hand at design but just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Many may also begrudge having to pay for a designer when they can do it themselves for free.

I recently worked with a client who had been trying to create her own social media assets but after spending hours faffing about trying to make them work she gave up and got in touch. No matter what she tried it just didn’t look right. We worked together to produce a series of templates that were on-brand, engaging and looked professional.

Making the decision to outsource the design of the social media assets has freed up her time to focus on other areas of the business and has also alleviated the stress she felt each month trying to do too much.

“The fee I pay Lorne each month to create my social content is well worth it. Lorne’s designs are so much better than anything I could produce, and it gives me peace of mind knowing I can pass it over and it’s in safe hands. Since working with Lorne the engagement on my channels has really shot up.”

Don’t get me wrong, I think there is a time and place for these free design tools, but they should not solely be relied upon. Professional designers provide unique and personalised work, specific to your needs and which communicate your businesses' vision and values.
